Valerie Sheehan

Valerie Sheehan is a professionally trained ASD tutor with over 25 years experience working with families and kids on the autistic spectrum. She is passionate about providing tools and educational resources for parents, carers and teachers. Everything in these books has been tested and developed with over 80 children and families – all of whom hold a special place in Val’s heart.​

Valerie worked as a Home Tutor for 12 years working with children with autism and their families. In this time Valerie saw there was a lack of resources available to parents after their child was diagnosed with autism. She wanted to do something that would simultaneously help both parent and child. That’s when the idea for Tony the Turtle was born. She has been working in the area of special education for over 25 years, specialising in autism for 12 years. Valerie is now working as a special education teacher in a special school in Cork working with children with mild and moderate general learning difficulties. With a higher diploma in Social Studies and a B.A in Montessori education she has completed several courses in the area of autism and special education. She says that it’s the amazing children she has worked with that have taught her the most. She continues to learn everyday.​
